Featured PM - Mark ABRY - AOS

“I believe if more Architects, Engineers, Contractors, and PM’s jumped on board with the program, Kinetech has the potential to be the standard in how project information is shared, in the way AutoCAD and Revit set the standard for creating and sharing Construction Documents.”

How long ago did your firm adopt Kinetech PM?

AOS began using Kinetech December 2014. I started with the company in February 2015 and participated in a Kinetech web demonstration with Morgan Booth shortly after.

What was the biggest learning curve for you / your colleagues?

Kinetech was pretty overwhelming for me at first because of the countless features it is capable of.  After the web demo and a few projects under my belt, I realized how useful and time saving the program is.

What was the most intuitive functionality to you?

I use Kinetech to create quotes for clients on almost a daily basis. The standardized templates and built-in calculators make this process a breeze, and I don’t have to worry as much about human error from manual calculations. The Project Scope Form function also makes it easy to keep track of all the particulars of a project, and double check them against your ICE and CAD files.

How long did it take you to feel proficient / comfortable with the layout (do you like the new styling)?

After my second or third project I felt comfortable enough using Kinetech without asking my fellow DIRTT PM’s a million questions. I still have a long way to go to become truly proficient. There are many features that I have yet to take advantage of.

How has Kinetech PM evolved since you began using it?

I have noticed that all of the requests from my team have been addressed, and these new features have been added to Kinetech. Probably my favorite improvement is being able to click “Cancel” on a quote without having Kinetech completely delete it.

What improvement would you like to see in the application?

It would be nice to be able to check the local weather in Kinetech, since I am already in the program every day.  (Kidding!)  I really would like to see the ability to add a new Contractor or Architect directly in the Project scope form if it doesn’t already exist in the contact list drop-down. From there it could then automatically be added to the contact list for future use in other projects.

How often do you use Kinetech PM?

I Use Kinetech on a daily basis.

How much time would you estimate it saves in a given week?

It probably saves me 5-10 hours a week.

Last Thought(s)?

I believe if more Architects, Engineers, Contractors, and PM’s jumped on board with the program, Kinetech has the potential to be the standard in how project information is shared, in the way AutoCAD and Revit set the standard for creating and sharing Construction Documents.
